Pastor John Flamme was born in Rockford, Illinois. He graduated from Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, Nebraska in May 1984. After teaching art and journalism for three years in Deshler, Nebraska plus one year in Orlando, Florida, he enrolled in Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, Indiana in the pastoral ministry program, graduating in 1992. He was ordained on July 26, 1992.
He served his vicarage year at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, Minnesota in 1990-1991. Pastor John served two years as a missionary in Quebec, Canada. He then served as Interim Pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Indianapolis in 1994. He was called as an Associate Pastor to Concordia in 1995 becoming its sole Pastor in 2003 upon the retirement of Pastor Howard Fabricius.
Pastor John and his wife, Beverly Ann, live in Greenwood. Pastor has three children and four grandchildren. His son, Brian, is Associate Pastor of Hope Lutheran Church in Aurora, Colorado. Brian and his wife, Jennifer, have three sons. Pastor’s son, Paul, is a medical doctor and a graduate of IU School of Medicine. Paul and his wife, Ashley, live in Greenwood along with their daughter, Grace. Pastor’s daughter, Faith, teaches English as a Second Language in Japan.
