  • 12. Silent Night, Holy Night (1/5/2022)

    LSB 363

    1 Silent night, holy night!
    All is calm, all is bright
    round yon virgin mother and child.
    Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
    sleep in heavenly peace,
    sleep in heavenly peace.

    2 Silent night, holy night!
    Shepherds quake at the sight.
    Glories stream from heaven afar,
    heav’nly hosts sing, Alleluia!
    Christ, the Savior, is born!
    Christ, the Savior, is born!

    3 Silent night, holy night!
    Son of God, love’s pure light
    radiant beams from thy holy face
    with the dawn of redeeming grace,
    Jesus, Lord, at thy birth,
    Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

  • 11. Go Tell It On The Mountain (1/4/2022)

    LSB 388

    Refrain:
    Go tell it on the mountain,
    over the hills, and ev’rywhere;
    go, tell it on the mountain
    that Jesus Christ is born.

    1 While shepherds kept their watching
    o’er silent flocks by night,
    behold, throughout the heavens
    there shone a holy light. [Refrain]

    2 The shepherds feared and trembled
    when lo, above the earth
    rang out the angel chorus
    that hailed our Savior’s birth. [Refrain]

    3 Down in a lowly manger
    the humble Christ was born,
    and God sent us salvation
    that blessed Christmas morn. [Refrain]

  • 10. See Amid the Winter’s Snow (1/3/2022)

    LSB 373

    1 See amid the winter’s snow,
    Born for us on earth below,
    See, the gentle Lamb appears,
    Promised from eternal years.

    Refrain:
    Hail, O ever-blessed morn!
    Hail, redemption’s happy dawn!
    Sing through all Jerusalem:
    “Christ is born in Bethlehem!”

    2 Lo, within a stable lies
    He who built the starry skies,
    He who, throned in height sublime,
    Sits amid the cherubim. [Refrain]

    3 Sacred Infant, all divine,
    What a tender love was Thine,
    Thus to come from highest bliss
    Down to such a world as this! [Refrain]

    4 Teach, O teach us, holy child,
    By Thy face so meek and mild,
    Teach us to resemble Thee
    In Thy sweet humility. [Refrain]

  • 9. O Rejoice, Ye Christians Loudly (1/2/2022)

    LSB 897

    1 O rejoice, all Christians, loudly,
    for our joy has now begun;
    wondrous things our God has done.
    Tell abroad his goodness proudly,
    who our race has honored thus,
    that he has befriended us.

    Refrain:
    Joy, O joy, beyond all gladness!
    Christ has done away with sadness!
    Hence, all sorrow and repining,
    for the Sun of grace is shining!

    2 See, my soul, your Savior chooses
    poverty and weakness, too;
    in such love he comes to you.
    Neither crib nor cross refuses,
    all he suffers for your good
    to redeem you by his blood. [Refrain]

    3 Lord, how shall I thank you rightly?
    I am saved eternally
    by your life and death for me.
    Let me not forget it lightly
    but with all my heart believe
    that from you I shall receive [Refrain]

    4 Jesus, guard and guide your members,
    fill them with your boundless grace,
    hear their prayers in ev’ry place.
    Fan to life faith’s glowing embers;
    grant all Christians far and near,
    holy peace, a glad new year. [Refrain]

  • 8. Gentle Mary Laid Her Child (1/1/2022)

    LSB 374

    1 Gentle Mary laid her Child
    Lowly in a manger;
    There He lay, the undefiled,
    To the world a stranger:
    Such a Babe in such a place,
    Can He be the Savior?
    Ask the saved of all the race
    Who have found His favor.

    2 Angels sang about His birth;
    Wise men sought and found Him;
    Heaven’s star shone brightly forth,
    Glory all around Him:
    Shepherds saw the wondrous sight,
    Heard the angels singing;
    All the plains were lit that night,
    All the hills were ringing.

    3 Gentle Mary laid her Child
    Lowly in a manger;
    He is still the undefiled,
    But no more a stranger:
    Son of God, of humble birth,
    Beautiful the story;
    Praise His name in all the earth,
    Hail the King of glory!

  • 7. Once In Royal David’s City (12/31/2021)

    LSB 376

    1 Once in royal David’s city
    Stood a lowly cattle shed,
    Where a mother laid her baby
    In a manger for His bed:
    Mary was that mother mild,
    Jesus Christ her little child.

    2 He came down to earth from heaven,
    Who is God and Lord of all,
    And His shelter was a stable,
    And His cradle was a stall;
    With the poor and mean and lowly
    Lived on earth our Savior holy.

    3 For He is our childhood’s pattern,
    Day by day like us He grew;
    He was little, weak, and helpless,
    Tears and smiles like us He knew;
    And He feels for all our sadness,
    And He shares in all our gladness.

    4 And our eyes at last shall see Him,
    Through His own redeeming love;
    For that child so dear and gentle
    Is the Lord in heav’n above;
    And He leads His children on
    To the place where He is gone.

    5 Not in that poor, lowly stable
    With the oxen standing by
    Shall we see Him, but in heaven,
    Set at God’s right hand on high.
    Then like stars His children, crowned,
    All in white, His praise will sound!

  • 6. From Heaven Above to Earth I Come (12/30/2021)

    LSB 358

    1 “From heav’n above to earth I come
    to bear good news to ev’ry home;
    glad tidings of great joy I bring,
    whereof I now will say and sing:

    2 “To you this night is born a child
    of Mary, chosen virgin mild;
    this little child of lowly birth
    shall be the joy of all the earth.

    3 “This is the Christ, our God most high,
    who hears your sad and bitter cry;
    he will himself your Savior be
    from all your sins to set you free.

    4 “He will on you the gifts bestow
    prepared by God for all below,
    that in his kingdom bright and fair,
    you may with us his glory share.

  • 5. What Child is This? (12/29/2021)

    LSB 370

    1 What child is this, who, laid to rest,
    On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
    Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
    While shepherds watch are keeping?
    This, this is Christ the king,
    Whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
    Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
    The babe, the son of Mary!

    2 Why lies He in such mean estate
    Where ox and ass are feeding?
    Good Christian, fear; for sinners here
    The silent Word is pleading.
    Nails, spear shall pierce Him through,
    The cross be borne for me, for you;
    Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
    The babe, the son of Mary!

    3 So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh;
    Come, peasant king, to own Him.
    The King of kings salvation brings;
    Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
    Raise, raise the song on high,
    The virgin sings her lullaby;
    Joy, joy, for Christ is born,
    The babe, the son of Mary!

  • 4. On Christmas Night All Christians Sing (12/28/2021)

    LSB 377

    1 On Christmas night all Christians sing
    To hear the news the angels bring,
    On Christmas night all Christians sing
    To hear the news the angels bring,
    News of great joy, news of great mirth,
    News of our merciful King’s birth.

    2 Then why should men on earth be so sad,
    Since our Redeemer made us glad,
    Then why should men on earth be so sad,
    Since our Redeemer made us glad,
    When from our sin He set us free,
    All for to gain our liberty?

    3 When sin departs before His grace,
    Then life and health come in its place,
    When sin departs before His grace,
    Then life and health come in its place;
    Angels and men with joy may sing,
    All for to see the newborn King.

    4 All out of darkness we have light,
    Which made the angels sing this night,
    All out of darkness we have light,
    Which made the angels sing this night:
    “Glory to God and peace to men
    Now and forevermore. Amen.”

  • 3. Of The Father’s Love Begotten (12/27/2021)

    384 Of the Father’s Love Begotten

    1 Of the Father’s love begotten
    Ere the worlds began to be,
    He is Alpha and Omega,
    He the source, the ending He,
    Of the things that are, that have been,
    And that future years shall see
    Evermore and evermore.

    2 Oh, that birth forever blessed,
    When the virgin, full of grace,
    By the Holy Ghost conceiving,
    Bore the Savior of our race,
    And the babe, the world’s Redeemer,
    First revealed His sacred face
    Evermore and evermore.

    3 This is He whom seers in old time
    Chanted of with one accord,
    Whom the voices of the prophets
    Promised in their faithful word.
    Now He shines, the long-expected;
    Let creation praise its Lord
    Evermore and evermore.

    4 O ye heights of heav’n, adore Him;
    Angel hosts, His praises sing,
    Pow’rs, dominions, bow before Him
    And extol our God and King.
    Let no tongue on earth be silent,
    Ev’ry voice in concert ring
    Evermore and evermore.

    5 Christ, to Thee, with God the Father,
    And, O Holy Ghost, to Thee
    Hymn and chant and high thanksgiving
    And unending praises be,
    Honor, glory, and dominion,
    And eternal victory
    Evermore and evermore.

    Amen.

  • 2. O Jesus Christ, Thy Manger Is (12/26/2021)

    373 O Jesus Christ, Thy Manger Is

    1. O Jesus Christ, Thy manger is
    My paradise at which my soul reclineth.
    For there, O Lord, Doth lie the Word
    Made flesh for us; herein Thy grace forthshineth.

    2. He whom the sea And wind obey
    Doth come to serve the sinner in great meekness.
    Thou, God’s own Son, With us art one,
    Dost join us and our children in our weakness.

    3. Thy light and grace Our guilt efface,
    Thy heavenly riches all our loss retrieving.
    Immanuel, Thy birth doth quell
    The power of hell and Satan’s bold deceiving.

    4. Thou Christian heart, Whoe’er thou art,
    Be of good cheer and let no sorrow move thee!
    For God’s own Child, In mercy mild,
    Joins thee to Him;-how greatly God must love thee!

    5. Remember thou What glory now
    The Lord prepared thee for all earthly sadness.
    The angel host Can never boast
    Of greater glory, greater bliss or gladness.

    6. The world may hold Her wealth and gold;
    But thou, my heart, keep Christ as thy true Treasure.
    To Him hold fast Until at last
    A crown be thine and honor in full measure.

  • 1. Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming (12/24/2021)

    for December 24/25th, LSB 359 Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming

    1 Lo, how a Rose e’er blooming
    From tender stem hath sprung!
    Of Jesse’s lineage coming
    As men of old have sung.
    It came, a flower bright,
    Amid the cold of winter
    When half-gone was the night.

    2 Isaiah ’twas foretold it,
    The Rose I have in mind:
    With Mary we behold it,
    The virgin mother kind.
    To show God’s love aright
    She bore to men a Savior
    When half-gone was the night.

    3 This Flower, whose fragrance tender
    With sweetness fills the air,
    Dispels with glorious splendor
    The darkness everywhere.
    True man, yet very God,
    From sin and death He saves us
    And lightens every load

    4 O Savior, child of Mary,
    Who felt our human woe,
    O Savior, King of glory,
    Who dost our weakness know;
    Bring us at length we pray,
    To the bright courts of Heaven,
    And to the endless day!
