Psalm 16 comes up in our lectionary on Easter Day.
Also noteworthy is that St. Peter quotes it in Acts 2, telling the Jews that though they put Jesus to death, God would not allow his Holy One to be bound by death.
We know that Jesus’ resurrection is a resurrection promised to all his faithful. We will not be abandoned to Sheol, the Hebrew understanding of eternal death. Rather, on the last day our bodies will raised up incorruptible (1 Cor 15:42). The path of life has been made known to us by our Lord Jesus, and it will lead us all to be in the presence of our God with eternal joy.
Psalm 16 is short and memorable. Take time today to read all of it, and then look for for this Psalm when we soon celebrate the Resurrection of Our Lord on Easter!
