How does our God react when he sees the suffering of his people?
Try taking 5 minutes today to read Psalm 18. It describes God’s frustration against evil as rocking and reeling the earth, as if his nostrils breathed out the smoke and fire of a volcano.
Granted, we never see this when we suffer. But it should remind us of Jesus’ crucifixion, how it is said the earth quaked and the sun darkened. Jesus’ innocent death couldn’t help but shake the world.
God shaking the foundations of this earth when he sees wrongdoing is not just a metaphor then; it is is a picture of the final judgement, when he finally pours out his wrath on sin and evil.
For us his faithful, we will be shielded by our Lord Jesus’ death for us. He is the right hand of God that supports us. His gentleness and humility is what makes us great.
